AJS: The Complete Story order quantity

NZ$ 69.95 each
Hardback
Author: Mick Walker
Published by: The Crowood Press
AJS is one of the best-known names in British motorcycle history. Founded in 1910 by the Stevens brothers, in Wolverhampton, the company produced well-built touring and sporting machines for the next twenty years. In 1931 the financial problems that had dogged the company came to a head and AJS was wound up. Its saviour was Matchless, who moved production to Plumstead, London, but retained the AJS name as an important part of the scene. Over the years the AJS and Matchless ranges had more and more in common, and by the post-war period the bikes were virtually identical, but the AJS name graced some of the best-loved bikes including the stunning 7R racer. The complete story of the AJS and its motorcycles is told here from the early days in the Midlands to the end, as part of the AMC combine.

Ariel: The Complete Story order quantity
  +   -
NZ$ 69.95 each
Hardback
Author: Mick Walker
Published by: The Crowood Press
The first Ariel motorcycle was manufactured in Birmingham 1901, and for the next sixty-odd years the name would be associated with some of Britain’s best motorcycles. Most famous of all was the Square Four – a mighty four-cylinder bike designed by the great Edward Turner. The Square Four, in all its forms, and its sister bike the Red Hunter were two of the classic bikes of the 1930s.
The post-war period saw a change of ownership, with the company becoming part of the BSA group, and the emphasis switched towards less sporting machines. Ariel fell victim to the malaise that was affecting the whole British motorcycle industry and soon the name would disappear forever.

Bob McIntyre: The Flying Scot order quantity

Author: Mick Walker
Published by: Breedon Books Publishing Co Ltd
Fourth in a series intended to cover the careers of the world's greatest motorcycle racing champions, "Bob McIntyre - The Flying Scot" tells the story of the man who never actually won a world championship - but certainly deserved to. In many ways he was the two-wheel equivalent of car racing driver Stirling Moss, who is seen as one of the greats in his sport, although he never won an official world title. Well over four decades since his untimely death, following an accident that occurred while racing his 500cc Manx Norton at Oulton Park, Cheshire in August 1962, Bob McIntyre's memory lives on. An annual Bob McIntyre Memorial race meeting held at East Fortune attracts racing enthusiasts from as far afield as Australia. Not only was 'Bob Mac' a brilliantly gifted rider and self-taught mechanic, he was also a man of the people, someone who would always help a fellow competitor or take the time to sign an autograph or chat to a fan. He ... more

BSA 500-650cc Twins: The Essential Buyer's Guide order quantity
  +   -
NZ$ 59.95 each
Paperback
Author: Peter Henshaw
Published by: Veloce Publishing PLC
Sometimes living under the shadow of the flashier, high profile Triumph Twins, the equivalent BSAs were just as numerous, and were exported to the USA and all over the world. BSA was often seen as a less glamourous marque than Triumph or Norton, associated more with commuting and sidecars than coffee bar cowboys, but that doesn't detract from its collectibility today, as the bikes have become highly usable, enjoyable classics. This book is a practical guide to buying one of these bikes today and covers the complete range, from the very first 1946 500cc A7 to the final 1973 650cc A65s. Photos and a unique scoring system smoothly guide you through the buying process without making expensive mistakes. One hundred colour photos, useful appendices and expert advice mean that this book could save you thousands!

BSA Pre-Unit Twins: The Complete Story order quantity
  +   -
NZ$ 69.95 each
Hardback
Author: Mick Walker
Published by: The Crowood Press
BSA was once the largest - and most successful - motorcycle company in the world. Many of the most famous 'Beezas' were powered by twin-cylinder engines, in both vee and parallel configurations. During the interwar years BSA built a series of side-valve and overhead valve v-twins in 500, 750 and 1000cc. After the Second World War, BSA built a family of vertical twins in 500cc [A7] and 650cc [A10] guises. Their names bring back fond memories: Star Twin, Shooting star, Golden Flash, Road Rocket, Super Rocket and the magnificent Rocket Gold Star. This is the very first book to deal exclusively with both the interwar v-twins and the postwar A7/10 series.
